The feds crow about busting a big pot-peddling operation in Springfield. Details are delicious.
Two dozen people were indicted by a federal grand jury. Cops say Damien Foxx, 26, and his cohorts allegedly pushed through 1,000 kilos of pot between October 2003 and February 2005. Do the math: that's more than a ton or ganja, or roughly 31 pounds of smoke a week. Dude.
Foxx was busted in January, according to the indictment announced on Monday. Cops say they took more than $50,000 in cash off the suspect -- and seized a handful of nice rides, a diamond ring and a diamond-encrusted watch. The next day, they grabbed another $20,000 from a bank account, and four days after that, they took $9,000 from a sports-car dealership where Foxx and Co. had allegedly done some shopping.
The group was moving so much pot, cops say, it needed a stash house. So Foxx & Friends purportedly purchased a little place to hide their weed.
The address? 418 E. Evergreen. Not so green anymore.
nice...
